Job Purpose:
To provide subject matter expertise in the development and academic design of the Bachelor of Social Work qualification. The role will contribute to the development of curriculum content and ensure that the qualification meets all relevant regulatory and professional standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design and development of the Bachelor of Social Work curriculum in line with institutional and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and review module content, including learning outcomes and assessment strategies.
- Ensure alignment with professional body requirements, including the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
- Contribute to the development of supporting documentation required for programme approval and accreditation.
- Provide input on programme coherence, articulation, and industry relevance.
- Engage with academic teams and relevant stakeholders in the qualification development process.
- Review and provide feedback on qualification documentation and related academic materials.
Minimum Requirements:
- A Master’s degree (NQF 9) or higher in Social Work.
- Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
- 3 to 5 years of experience in higher education teaching, curriculum development, or programme design.
- Experience in qualification development and/or accreditation processes will be advantageous.
- One NQF level higher than the qualification being developed will be advantageous.
- Copy of academic transcript.
Key Competencies:
- Knowledge and understanding of the South African higher education systems and regulatory framework.
- Knowledge and understanding of Social Work professional standards and requirements.
- Strong academic writing and curriculum design skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with academic and quality assurance teams.
- The ability to cope with a frequently changing environment and to adapt to evolving situations.
- Ability to adhere to rules and strictly follow work regulations.
- Deadline orientated and can work well under pressure.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
Working Hours:
This is a project-based engagement. Working hours will be determined based on project requirements and agreed deliverables.
Salary:
Market related.
