Job Purpose:

A Training Officer is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering training programmes to enhance the skills, knowledge, and performance of employees. The role involves assessing organizational training needs, developing training materials, and ensuring programs align with company objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Training Needs Analysis

  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments and training needs analysis.
  • Collaborate with department heads/managers/team leaders to determine training priorities.
  • Document needs and requirements.
  • Identify learning and development initiatives to support skills gaps.

Design and Development

  • Design, develop and update learning materials to include instructor-led training, workbooks, quick reference guides, learner guides, quick reference guides, webinars, videos, and eLearning interventions.
  • Maintain training content on learning and development technology and tools.
  • Update learning content on LMS platform.
  • Update learning materials and content to ensure they are relevant and updated in terms of L&D trends and business changes.

Facilitation and L&D Support 

  • Facilitate various learning interventions including business process changes and/or requirements.
  • Deliver learning interventions to include a combination of instructor-led training, virtual training, blended learning, and eLearning.
  • Conduct regular interactive engagements to ensure Learning Outcomes are met post training in the business.
  • Provide ongoing support to relevant employees and teams to proactively ensure success of development interventions.
  • Drive L&D support projects as needed and deemed necessary for team success.
  • Collaborate and follow up with line management to ensure transfer of learning with post action learning plans or activities.
  • Develop criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities and regularly monitor and report results to management.
  • Monitor and evaluate learner progress with implementing evaluation and proficiency assessment processes consistent with company performance, developmental and feedback standards.

Compliance and Documentation

  • Ensure training activities adhere to legal and organisational standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of training sessions and certifications.
  • Monitor compliance with mandatory training requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications

Minimum

  • NQF Level 6 Qualification in Human Resources; Organisational Development; ODETD Certificate (Occupationally Directed Education Training and Development)

Advantageous

  • NQF Level 7 Qualification in Human Resources; Organisational Development

Experience

Minimum

  • 3-4 years experience in a learning & development or facilitator role
  • 3-4 years experience with learning & development methodologies
