Overview and Purpose of Position

  • Tutoring provides support to college students by offering assistance in the implementation of strategies for achieving academic success. The main duties of a tutor involve providing assistance to students (referred to as tutees) in order to foster their development as self-reliant learners, enhance their college persistence, and help them achieve their objectives. Tutors offer personalised and/or collective instructional support to students. Students from various disciplines are assigned to courses that align with their individual areas of expertise. Tutors meet with students to clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes, and help Students engage in the process of problem-solving to address issues or challenges. Tutoring serves to complement and enhance classroom-based instructional practices. The focus and substance of the tutoring sessions are determined based on the individual requirements of the student. Tutors collaborate with peers and the coordinator to facilitate individual professional growth.

Responsibilities
  •  Presenting content in a classroom environment (online or physical, as required)
  • Consultations with students based on their academic needs .
  • Assist the academic team with insights to help the Results analysis process at a modular level.
  • Assist students with marking feedback.
  • Assist the process of employing interventions for at-risk students.
KPA / Main Outputs Detailed Description
1. Tutoring 
  • Deliver tutorials and actively engage students as per their academic needs and in accordance with the pacers for each module's needs.
2. Tutoring Support 
  • Engage and prepare students for assessments, identify at risk students in accordance with Central Academic Team briefings.
  • Monitor student engagement as well as assessment submission with relevant escalation
