EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIST

Job Purpose:

Rosebank College's National Office is seeking an innovative Educational Technologist with a focus on integrating emerging technologies like AI into our Learning Management Systems (LMS) and educational practices. This role is designed for a forward-thinking individual who can merge traditional LMS functionalities with the latest ed-tech advancements to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

LMS and AI development and integration to support strategic imperatives 

  • Ensure ed tech and emerging technology integrations align with the institution's strategic academic goals and improve user engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Lead the development and integration of AI technologies within the LMS to facilitate personalised and adaptive learning experiences
  • Represent the brand in LMS-related strategic discussions and decision-making processes.
  • Ethical considerations and inclusivity in developing and deploying LMS and emerging technologies.

Manage content provision (emerging and AI) in the LMS

  • Manage the operational and tactical development, provisioning, and updating of content within the LMS.
  • Leverage AI capabilities to direct the adaptation of content and assessments based on student performance and learning patterns.
  • Managing the change process as IIERC adopts new AI-enhanced teaching and learning methods.

 

Monitoring, analysis and improvement of AI enhancements in ed-tech and LMS provision

  • Regularly evaluate the LMS's AI-enhanced features to ensure they meet educational objectives.
  • Utilise analytics and feedback to recommend and implement improvements that enhance teaching effectiveness and student learning experiences.
  • Communication and collaboration with a broader range of stakeholders, including technology partners, academic staff, and students, to gather insights and feedback that inform the continuous improvement of AI-integrated educational technologies.

Research and Innovation in Content development and support      

  • Stay informed about the latest trends in AI and educational technology research and contribute to research in this regard.
  • Lead initiatives for the development of AI-driven educational content and tools.
  • Provide comprehensive support and training for academic staff in integrating AI technologies into their teaching practices, enhancing curriculum delivery and student engagement.

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Honours Degree in Educational Technology (NQF Level 8) or related qualification
  • Honours Degree in IT or Computer Science (NQF Level 8) with an endorsed certificate in Education Technology.

Experience

  • Project management and leadership experience in educational management (5 years)
  • Strong foundation in AI applications within higher education, including adaptive learning systems, intelligent tutoring systems, data analytics, and automation (3 years)
  • Experience in training lecturers to use related hardware and software in the learning process (2 years)
  • Experience in higher education working on LMS such as Blackboard, Sakai or Moodle Management (2 years)
